Boat Tar is a more fluid type of wood tar, with a thinner consistency that allows for better absorption into wood. It is specifically designed for treating wooden boats. Boat Tar is suitable for use on untreated or previously tarred wooden surfaces.
Note: Not suitable for painted or lacquered surfaces. Apply with a brush, sponge, or lint-free cloth.
• Coverage: Approx. 2–9 m²/l, depending on the quality and dryness of the wood.
• Tip:
Boat Tar can be mixed with linseed oil or Maston Pine Turpentine to create a so-called “boatman’s mixture.” This mixture provides coverage of approximately 4–7 m²/l.
• Thinning and Tool Cleaning: Use Maston Pine Turpentine.
• Color Tone: Dark brown.
• Drying Time: Boat Tar does not dry in the conventional sense but is absorbed into the wood. Once absorbed, the surface will feel dry to the touch. Any excess, unabsorbed tar should be wiped off with a lint-free cloth.
• Storage: Store in a cool, dry place at +5 °C to +30 °C.
• Shelf Life: Unopened packaging remains usable for 36 months from the production date.
